Chandratal requires an Inner Line Permit and is typically accessible from mid-June onwards. Kunzum Pass typically opens in the second week of June, depending on that year's snowfall — in heavy snowfall years it may open as late as mid-June or early July.

Ideally, you need 9–10 days for the full circuit from Delhi/Chandigarh. Our package is perfectly designed at 9 Nights / 10 Days covering the complete Spiti circuit.

The Shimla–Kinnaur–Kaza route takes you through Sangla, Chitkul, Kalpa, Nako, and Tabo before reaching Kaza — it's more gradual and ideal for first-timers and families. The Manali–Kaza route goes through the Atal Tunnel and Kunzum Pass — shorter and more adventurous. Full-circuit packages combine both, entering via Shimla and exiting through Manali.

Kaza sits at 3,800m (12,467 ft), Chandratal at 4,300m (14,108 ft), and Kunzum Pass at 4,551m (14,931 ft). The Manali to Kaza distance via Kunzum Pass is approximately 200 km / 6–8 hours.

Tempo Traveller, 4x4 SUV, or Royal Enfield motorcycles are best suited. Sedans are not recommended beyond Kalpa. Our package uses Ertiga, Innova Crysta, and Tempo Travellers depending on group size.

Individuals not used to higher elevation may be at risk of altitude sickness (AMS). Light symptoms include loss of appetite, sleep disturbance, and difficulty passing urine. Moderate symptoms include headache, irregular breathing, nausea, and mild weakness. Our itinerary is designed for gradual acclimatisation over 3 days before reaching high-altitude areas.

Carry Diamox for altitude sickness after consulting your doctor, plus antibiotics and pain relievers. Oxygen cylinders are available on request through our package.

Airtel has the best network in Spiti. BSNL works at lower altitudes. Jio has limited coverage. Expect no signal at Chandratal and at many high-altitude sites.

Withdraw cash at Shimla, Rampur, or Reckong Peo (which has 6–7 ATMs) before heading into Spiti. Keep an emergency buffer of ₹5,000–8,000 for unexpected situations like road closures or extra days. ATMs are limited in Spiti Valley, with the main town of Kaza having a few options. Carrying enough cash for your entire trip is advisable, as credit card acceptance may be limited in remote areas.

Indian citizens need no permit. Foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) from the Shimla or Kaza DC office. A Rohtang permit is required for vehicles entering from the Manali side — book online. ₹800 for petrol, ₹400 for diesel vehicles.

Mandatory: Government ID with name and address, Medical Certificate, and Self-Declaration Form. Photocopies of all documents are recommended.
